Threshing Day Game FAQ

What the Threshing Day game is, whether Dragonkind is free, how dragon bonding works, what happens if you burn, and which dragon color is rarest.

Threshing Day's official game is Dragonkind — a free browser choose-your-path experience at dragonkind.com. You enter the Threshing Valley as a cadet candidate, make approach choices, and either bond a dragon or burn. It launched September 29, 2026 alongside the book.
Yes. Dragonkind is completely free at dragonkind.com — you sign in with an email address and a one-time code, no purchase or account profile required. It's the official companion to Threshing Day, run by Yarros Ink.
Yes. If a dragon isn't won over, you burn and have to wait out a cooldown before trying again — player reports put the wait close to four hours, though there's no official number. Rebecca Yarros has said about 1 in 10 players won't bond no matter what they choose.
Players have compiled six brood colors — blue, red, green, brown, black, and orange — and five tail types (Morningstartail, Daggertail, Swordtail, Clubtail, Scorpiontail), for thirty possible dragons. Which one picks you depends on your route.
Black. In Fourth Wing canon, a century passes without a black dragon being born — they're the most discerning brood and choose almost no one. Community claims about guaranteed black-dragon routes are unverified.
No — the game is self-contained. But if you plan to read the series, the recommended order is Fourth Wing, Iron Flame, Onyx Storm, then Threshing Day; you don't need Threshing Day to follow book four.
